If I Move Too Fast, Will I Catch On Fire?

That weekend went by way too fast. I need another one stat! I didn't get everything I wanted done so I need just one more day...
I'll try to be more positive - "Cheers to Monday! But I'd prefer if you were Thursday so I could drink Guinness and eat tasty St. Patrick's Day goodies." Do you guys have your green outfits planned? I don't but I'm looking forward to collecting stuff from my closet.
dress: Simply Vera via Kohl's; tights: Assets via barenecessities.com; belt: Target; Flats: Payless; scull bracelet: Tarina Tarentino via Gilt
This is the last of my Kohl's finds from my trip a couple of weeks ago. This was a major clearance dress. At first I HATED the print (I think my actual outburst was "good lord that is hideous, why? - but I like the bow thingy..."), but all doubts aside I grabbed it to try on since I liked the style. When I dropped it over my head, I immediately knew I could work with it. It's such a classic 60s cut (with a bit of a longer hem of course) that I even started to like the print. I was a little concerned with the cheap polyester blend though. I figured it would be static-y all day or if I moved to fast I would catch on fire - but no such awful things happened. Yay.
and as for the rest of YOU- Have a great Monday!

It's Still Winter, But On My Dress - It's Spring!

Oh heaven, its Friday! Im getting my do done and I get to start a fun weekend. We have 2 parties to attend Saturday and Sunday which guarantees great food and drinks. It’s amazing how excited we get about food. I hate to cook so when someone else does it, its magic!
dress: Apt9 via Kohl's; tights: Target; heels: Dolce Vita via Dolce Vita Store; jewelry: I made; coat: Victoria's Secret online
This is another dress I found at Kohl’s. I was so drawn to the print and then the style was actually something I liked. (And it was so affordable at $25 for a nice dress. And thanks to a coupon it was an even better deal.) I love the cap sleeves and the pleats from the neckline are so pretty. Its a retro cut that I think is so timeless. I’m kinda impressed at the construction. It actually has it’s own lining – yay, I don’t have to grab a slip! The size 10 looked better, but I couldn’t move freely, so I went with the 12 and belted it. Now I need to hem it about an inch. *grrrr* That’s gonna be a lame project. I have to do the under slip too L Ah well, what I do for a print I like…
look at the pleats at the neckline - I like that little finish, it adds sumthin sumthin to the back.
Anyway, I doubt I will get to re-hemming this week. Hopefully, I’ll get inspired to complete some projects whilst relaxing next week. Today I get to go get my hair recolored. It's been far too long. I miss my bright red.
Have a fabulous weekend!
Welcome to all new followers! I'm sooooooo happy you're here.

Sometimes All You Need Is A Little Chili's

Today I’m feeling better than yesterday. I made a conscious effort to pick up my mood. I decided to treat us to take out from Chili’s. It kinda worked on pushing both our moods upwards. For some reason the Quesadilla Explosion Salad was super and I ate every last bite, my hubby ate all of his too (which isn’t out of the ordinary really, but for me it was J) I felt better right away, maybe my blood sugar was low, like all day…
dress: ELLE via Kohl's; sweater: Element (gift); socks: UO; boots: Steve Madden (Nettle); Earrings: H&M
On to more interesting things like THIS DRESS!!!! I am in love and it’s navy calico from Kohl’s. I had a coupon and a gift card so on my trip home from work last Friday I stopped into Kohl’s. I had 2 things I wanted – a dress with a print and/or a top that I like. (I’m having such a hard time finding a good fit in tops lately so I’ve been looking everywhere I go. Evey thing is just so expensive.) No tops, but dresses – oh heck yes! I wasn’t planning on finding so many, but I did. I had on a pretty grey print before I tried on this baby and I really dug it. But what sold me on this one (I had to chose – $41.99 is a lot of moolah for me to spend on a dress, spending it twice wasn’t going to work. I had to decide on one L) was when I put it on, I breathed out “oh” a happy surprise. This was the perfect dress *big smile*. I just know every time I wear it, I’m going to be happy. It’s such a neat style, very 70s through the skirt, but with 80s lace on the top.
My girlfriend and I went to BCBG in Brentwood. The girl in the shop was helping my friend when she diverted herself from her bee line to the dressing room to tell me she liked my style. Well shucks! That made my day!!!! So I skipped around the rest of the “over my budget” racks with a smile.
I think I want one of their Bandage skirts. I love the fabric and the fit. I’m going to be trolling ebay for a deal. I won’t pay reg. price of $148. Kinda nuts. BCBG is one of my favorite designers, it fits me and I love the designs. I hope to have a fabulous shin dig that I have to buy a new fancy dress for soon. A girl can dream right?
Happy Wednesday!
I’m off to catch up on my blog reading and commenting (which I've been terrible at this week.)

Everyone Is Friggin Pregnant...

dress: F21; tights: Hue via Macy's; boots: Steve Madden (Nettle); jewelry: I made; belt: Kohl's
I’m feeling a bit down today and the reason I’m feeling down? Everyone is PREGNANT! Bloggers I follow, cousins, friends….when’s it gonna be my turn?! *pushed out bottom lip* I never thought I would be saying that. I always thought I was going to be a “if we get pregnant, we get pregnant” now that I actually want to I have absolutely no patience! “It could take up to a year” my doctor said – oh hell no! If it takes a year, I’m gonna end up eating a whole gallon of ice cream per week. I’m totally eating my feelings as of late. I’m not gaining baby weight, just depression weight. My impatience is making my waistline grow. I knew I wasn’t going to be one of those ladies that got pregnant on the first try, nothing really plays out that easily in my life experience, but it still sucks. I stated that to myself as a defense mechanism so I wouldn’t be disappointed early on, well, it didn’t work… L Instead of tapping my foot while I wait, I'm stomping around like a buffalo. (A buffalo in a blue floral dress no less.)
As a woman I’ve spent a ½ of my life avoiding pregnancy with preventatives. It seemed so easy to get pregnant if you were not, now that I want to, why isn’t it as easy as I thought it was going to be? Lame. And just when I actually start to believe “it’s totally fine, it’s going to happen. Don’t worry” I turn around and someone else is pregnant and I get down again. I’m having a hard time being unconditionally happy for these people with this oppressive want hanging over my head. I’m not an asshole, but it’s making me feel like one. I just need to be happy with the potential to have a baby and that we might meet that potential. Some people cannot have babies at all and I’m not there yet. I hope I don’t ever arrive there either. Life may require it, but for right now, I need to believe that won’t be an issue and be happy with possibilities.
I saw this beautiful article yesterday about a couple who had 7 biological children and then went and adopted 1, then 2 more, then a total of 6 more. A thirteen child home- WOW! Those are the most selfless people EVER! If we can’t have children naturally, adoption is more than a possibility, but a necessity. Just writing that sentence I feel like I’m getting really ahead of myself.
It just got me thinking, that’s all.

Suck it up KellyAnn, it could be a whole heck of a lot worse. At least I still get to sit down and watch t.v. when I get home from work (after feeding the animals of course). I heard that doesn’t happen a lot when kids are in the mix. heheh
Maybe tonight I’ll turn to low calorie frozen yogurt instead of ice cream…
So that is my outpouring of emotion for today…Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow after a good nights sleep.
A small pick me up is - Tomorrow is Wednesday!!! Hump day - Friday will be that much closer.

Effortless Use of Stripes

Both dogs wanted in on this lil shoot. We've all seen Ruby do her thing, but doesn't my big dog (Harley) have such a pretty tiger stripe?! I assume that is why he smuggled into the picture- to show off his effortless use of stripes for the season.
dress: Target; tight: UO; boots: ZigiSoho via DSW; sweater: Time Out via Kohl's; scarf: It's A Wrap;
butterfly ring: Overstock.com; earrings: I made
Do you have that one pair of tights that you love but settle about 1inch below crotch level? These red suckers fulfill that category for me. I dig the color and the stripes, but the fit is terrible! Maybe if I was a couple of inches shorter? (It doesn't help either that I put 2 nice lil holes around the thighs with my large and apparently sharp edged butterfly ring.) Anyhoo, these promptly made their way into the trash after this last wear. I'm glad I got a pic of them for posterity. UO doesn't carry them anymore.
I'm happy 'cause it's Friday. So far the only thing I have planned is making my way down to Santa Monica for brunch with my girlfriend and some window shopping. Yay! We try to do this once a month and it's such a nice way to catch up. It also gets me outta the valley. Last week we hung out with friends in Marina Del Rey and it rained the entire drive there and back. This week the drive should be much nicer. Maybe a "top down" drive :)
Have a great weekend!! Tonight when I get home I'll be drinking Guinness beer at room temperature in a pint glass with my husband relaxing - can't wait!

The Good, The Bad and The Frumpy

I feel like my mom in this outfit (I don’t mean that in a truly bad way – just that I feel old.) But out of my affinity for disclosure of the good and the bad, I would consider this “the bad” or “the frumpy”. I guess this could be called comfortable, but I felt like the entire outfit aged me a decade and I felt like that all day. Sometimes I’m just not feelin’ it when I'm putting my outfits together. This was one of those times.
top: Candie's via Kohl's; pants: Truck Jeans via Alloy; oxfords: Chinese Laundry (Dirty Harry); necklace/belt: It's A Wrap
I do dig my necklace…it’s really an extra small belt that had a scarf running though a metal chain. I like how it makes a big bow. I think it would also look good layered with other silver necklaces. I feel like I have to incorporate it into something soon so I can get the bad taste of this ensemble outta my mouth. There's always tomorrow...
Tomorrow’s Friday! I can’t wait!!!!

These Needles Are Supposed To Help - Right?

dress: SA (I forgot brand); socks: Nine West; wedges: Steve Madden; jewelry: Macy's
Yesterday evening I went to get acupuncture done on my hip for the first time. I was nervous, but excited because ever since I’ve had hip issues the idea of acupuncture has been tossed around as a possible help, so I finally took the reins and scheduled an appt. Everyone speaks so highly of it, but I still didn’t really know what to expect. Initially it hurts, like um – a needle going into your skin/muscle. Why did I think that no pain was involved? A couple of needles throbbed dully the whole time they were in and when a couple of the hip needles were removed at the end, they held onto the scar tissue like they were glued there. The overall experience was weird. The results are minimal and a bit promising, but my hip was so sore this morning where the needle was in the most scar tissue. Lame. I have to go twice a week for a while. I hope my experience gets more positive the more I go, otherwise, I’m not sold on this whole needle releasing tension thing.
Question: Is this dress too much orange?
There were moments where I felt like “I’m wearing a whole dress of orange and I’m rocking it, dontcha wish you were me for a moment?”, and others where I felt “I’m a walking traffic cone, just get to your office so you can sit down and hide all this orange:”
Don’t get me wrong, this is one of my favorite color oranges – but it feels like A LOT - An orange commitment if you will.
I’m putting too much thought into this… I like the color, I like the ruffles + pleating and I like that the buttons close and don’t pucker over my bust. A bit pricey at $8.80 for the Salvation Army, I still think it was a good buy. Maybe the next time I wear it, I won’t feel so awkward.
Happy hump day – I can’t wait for Friday 5pm…
